2007-07-06 09:35:33Well, you don't want to lose too quickly because the body has a natural mechanism that lowers your metabolism when you start to lose too much too fast. If you lose it slowly, that mechanism won't go into action. But even on a program where you lose quite slowly there is a "plateau" phase that happens because of the lowering of metabolism. For this reason some people go on a "starvation" type diet every other day and that seems to work for not lowering the metabolism. Right now I am on Weight Watchers. I don't want to seem like an advertisement but I have been struggling most of my adult life with overweight. Finally, I have found a program I can do for the rest of my life. I have been on the program for a month and have lost 11 lbs., not fast, but that 11 lbs. has been with me for three years now. I have more to go and I am confident on the WW points system I can do it. Good luck.
