I have PCOS and have tried extremely hard to lose weight (exercise and strict diet) but with less than minimal results. As a result of me getting PCOS, I put on a lot of weight and now my BMI is over 30. I want some help from the doctor but I'm not sure what to expect.
Has anybody in a similar position to me got any advice?

Yes your insurance should pay for them, but some doctors make you take weight management classes before handing over a rx. I also have PCOS and have issues with weight. I think despression over not getting pregnant, and stress, along with high blood pressure all cause the weight gain, or lack of loss. Right now my approach is to tackle those issues to solve the weight issue.

You have to be grossly overweight (100 lbs or more) before a doctor will feel compelled to write you a script for weight loss drugs, which, by the way, don't work. Five or 10 lbs in a very overweight person is not going to help that much. Your BMI of 30 is lower than a lot of people I know.

I'm not sure if your entitled to weight loss drugs, but have you tried the Insulin Resistance Diet? there is a book by Cheryle Hart and www.soulcysters.com has a message board with tons of support when it comes to women with PCOS trying to lose weight.

I think that you should try something more extrema like lipo or pills
