2008-01-09 13:39:43Lifting is definitely good but make sure you're doing it right. It is very ineffective and harmful to joints and tissues if you're lifting with the wrong form. Talk to someone who knows what they're doing (REALLY knows, like a trainer) and see i they can give you some tips and also some lifts that will help you lose weight.
You have to eat better too. Definitely cut out things like soda, candy and other sugary foods. If you want to lose the weight you have to make some changes from what you're curently doing. Again, I would suggest seeing a trainer at a gym at least a few times so they can point you in the right direction.
You can do it!

2008-01-09 13:40:10The best way to approach it is to mold your exercise regimen around something that will cut the fat quicker.
You need to focus more on cardio and less on lifting. You said "I lift alot" - what does that mean? 3 times a week? 6? .. because "alot" means different things to different people.
Lifting is great, and having more muscle mass means you expend more calories even while at rest, but its a pretty long hard road trying to convert fat into muscle.
Whats more likely to happen is that your muscles get bigger and stronger, but they are still covered under a layer of fat which keeps them from looking defined and cut up.
Attack the fat by doing interval style cardio. You can hit a treadmill and walk at 4mph for a few minutes and then crank it up to a speed where you are running 'all-out' for 20 seconds, then rest at a walk for a minute, and then crank again for 20 seconds. Do 10 intervals like that and it won't take but 15-20 minutes and you'll have enough cardio done to make a significant difference. Start doing that "Alot" as in six times a week and match that up with weight-lifting at least 3 times a week and you'll see a huge difference.
