Ask:How do anorexics hide their weight loss from their parents
2012-02-03 01:49:48 +0000I am not anorexic myself, but I was curious. Don't parents SEE that you are losing weight? I can understand making excuses not to eat and finding ways to skip meals, but can't they physically see you are getting WAY too thin?

Answer:How do anorexics hide their weight loss from their parents
2012-02-03 01:51:55 +0000The parents usually tend to see the weight loss after a while. That's usually when they get the treatment for their eating disorder. I suppose they just wear baggy clothes to hide it?

I kept mine from my mum for months, from what I gathered she didn't notice I wasn't eating but she must have done because she badgered me to eat more. One day she saw me at my worst, I was obviously very underweight, even baggy clothes couldn't hide it. My face was pale, I had broke out in spots and I looked really ill. She shouted at me and dragged me to the doctors. I still have these issues now but I live at university so she doesn't see but when I go home she notices a lot. Most parents do not want to come to terms with the fact their child has an eating disorder and they try to put it off because it is hard for them, they usually take it personally and think its their fault.
