Hi im on antidepressants at the monent and have lost alot of weight. what other antiedepressants have "most comman side affects" have weight loss in them???? I do not recomend anyone to take antidepressants for weight loss. I know some of them have weight loss in them but which ones have weight loss in the most common side affects???? Thank you

topamax (used for bipolar) has helped me lose over 100 lbs.

Topamax is used to treat Bi-polar dis-order and a side effect is weight loss. I use it for nerve pain in my legs and back. I know it can also be used for migraines and seizures. It is also a controversial obesity drug. Topamax tends to make you anorexic. You simply have no desire to eat. I know I didn't. But Topamax also has many other serious side effects. I sleep all day, I get very drowsy, disoriented when I try to drive, it makes me repeat myself when I talk, Its hard to concentrate, I forget things all the time. Its not a drug to take lightly......very serious. I lost 50lb on it!

antidepressant & weight loss or gain is totally unconnected.If you want to lose weight, first correct your eating habits:avoid fried,fatty food,starch , sugar,etc.Exercise regularly and burn up the fats stored in your body.Yoga is best to remove the flabs and open the stiffness of the body.Best of luck

the weight loss could be from not eating as much. my cousin and i are both on Prozac and she gained weight from it while i lost weight. maybe its not from the pill itself. maybe its from the way your handling it. you probably feel better so you might be moving around more than you used to and eating less

Some SSRI anti-depressants can cause a 1 - 2 lb weight loss but that's about it. Most antidepressants will not cause weight loss as a common side effect. Some may even cause some weight gain.

The weight loss could be from actually not eating as much as you used too. You could have been over eating while you were depressed, but now your not.
I'm not really sure, but I've heard of it happening before.

I have been on antidepressants for 8 years and I have never had weight loss or gain from then and I have been on about 6 kinds.

I know Topamax has weight loss as a side effect.
