2006-08-31 12:35:22I have lost 50lbs so far (after the birth of my daughter)and still would like to lose another 50. It seems that when I constantly think and obsess over the weight I gain, but if I dont I lose easier. I lost the first 50 by not sitting on my butt as much and not eating so much crap. Simple as that. Now I feel overwhelmed that I still need to lose so much more. I look better and get compliments, but still am big. Any experiences with weight loss would be great. It seems overwhelming at time, but I am tired of being fat I want to wear cute clothes again.

2006-09-01 10:09:29Top weight loss tips
Today there is too much information available on losing weight that has become more confusing and sometimes difficult to follow. It???s actually very easy to lose weight if you follow my weight loss tips.
* Be in right frame of mind
Before you can start any diet program you need to be in the right frame of mind. If you do not feel good about yourself you probably will not want to choose healthy foods. You cannot expect the act of going on a diet to make you feel better about yourself. The only way you can choose to eat a healthy diet to lose weight is if you have a positive self-image.
* Eat whole food
Top weight loss tips
Eat whole foods that are as natural as possible. When you eat whole foods that are full of nutrients your body will know how much to eat and how much not to eat. You do not have to count calories because your body is a wonderful machine.
* Eat fresh fruit
Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season.
* Drink enough water
Drink the best weight loss supplement known to man, water. Most people do not know the difference from being hungry for food or thirsty for water. A great deal of times people eat when they should drink. Most likely you will not feel as hungry if you are getting enough water. You will be satisfying the thirst, which is confused for hunger. Water also helps you digest food better. Drinking water before you eat will help fill you up.
* Always chew your food
Always chew your food well. Chewing your food well will ensure that you get the most nutrients out of your food. Getting the most nutrients will satisfy your body therefore you will eat less. Another benefit of chewing well is that it helps aid in digestion.
* Take small meals
Eat small, frequent meals in a day. Large meals tax your digestion system, making it work harder. Taking too much time in between meals makes you hungrier for the next meal.
* Include protein at meal
Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish, legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt.
* Shut off TV while eating
Shut off the TV whenever you eat ??“ that includes meals and snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories!
* Increase your physical activity
Increase your physical activity. Most people are over weight because of a lack of physical activity. Start walking more, bicycling, walks your dog for longer periods of time, swim, dance and leave the car at home when you can. It???s important that you choose a physical activity that you enjoy because you???ll stick with it.

2006-08-31 12:43:09Maintain your eating habits, perhaps streamline them a little better. Can't go to the gym then walk to the park or around the block.... stay active.. two little ones at home that should be easy. Remember you must burn more calories then you consume in order to keep losing weight.

2006-08-31 12:58:49After I had my daughter I had 60 plus lbs on. I started walking everyday with my daughter in the stroller. No pressure, just a nice walk with a destination like the park - not the sub shop (like i did when pregnant) Within a few months I lost all my weight and then some. It wasn't hard at all. The first day is the hardest not because of the physical strain (if any) but just talking yourself into doing it. Once you do that your on your way. It's so easy. And a great time for your toddler to nap or just watch the scenery go by. Try walking for 15 minutes a day then build up. I was walking for 1 hr a day after a few weeks. It felt great being out of the house and away from housework and the fridge.

2006-08-31 12:49:26I'm right there with you! I have a toddler and stay home with him as well. I've lost about 20 pounds so far, have 80 to go. Working out is the hardest thing! I've tried lots of different things walking with him in his stroller (started with close places, gradually went futher), going to aerobics classes at the gym, doing workout videos/tv shows at home, home aerobics machines. I've worked out after he goes to bed, during nap time, when he's awake and playing, before he gets up. I guess my best advice, is to keep trying stuff. Right now I am getting up before him (6 am) and doing workout tv shows (we have Tivo, so I record them). It's working ok, as long as I stick with it. Congrats on the first 50 . . . good luck!

2006-08-31 12:47:50i think there is a mommy-baby excersize class like gyboree or something... i never tried.
try to create an "excersize routine" that will include your baby/toddler. do the jig together to some music, rent a excersize video or dvd (let him/her mimic you or the person on the screen), play tag in the park, jump rope... lift groceries (like weights) or the child holding the item so that he/she can help you put it on the shelf... ect.
nosh on fruits and veggies (or dried fruits) crackers and rice cakes... and WATER.
i sympathise with you and that unwanted baby-fat. somehow i think a person's metabolism changes when they become a mommy... dunno.
(or maybe its that need for extra energy to keep up with a little one that makes me want to nosh jelly bean, and chocolate... bad, bad me.)

2006-08-31 12:38:53you need to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. The 45 minute thing is not true, but don't over 60 minutes at a time.
Do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.
The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
Good luck and stick at it.

2006-08-31 12:47:54O.K....from someone who has always been slim but still needs to stay in shape........a GREAT way to stay motivated is to take classes - I used to run for years but recently have found that I get bored on my own and that really I stayed in the same shape...nothing ever improved or change. I've found that the one helpful thing that i've read about how celebrities work out is to do a combination of different things. So, I do kickboxing and yoga....one high impact, fat burning and the other toning, stretching, increasing flexibility and also relaxing at the same time. Also I'm a veggie and eat a pretty low -fat diet. But seriously, always mix up your workouts....never mind about sticking to 5 mins of this and 15 of that. Just do a range of different things to avoid getting bored and also to always challenge your body's comfort zone.
You don't have to be part of a gym though....you can get some great workout videos and be self-motivated about it!

2006-08-31 12:59:40There is a new weight management program called Cinch that you may wish to look into.
On most diets, you lose muscle, as well as fat. When you lose muscle, you lose some of your body's ability to burn fat, and your metabolism drops.
The doctors, nutritionists, and scientists at this company drew upon years of sports and nutrition science to create an easier and healthier plan. In a recent preliminary clinical trial, the scientifist tested a proprietary formula enhanced with the amino acid leucine. People in the program lost fat, weight, and inches while retaining 100% of their lean muscle.
Hope this is useful and for the website, feel free to contact me.
