2008-07-16 10:53:01Avocado is quite a fattening fruit but as mentioned below it is good fat - full of essential fatty acids - the type that your body needs to function healthily and that helps prevent cholesterol and regulate blood pressure. Now cheese on the other hand - that's saturated animal fat - ie. the not so good type - obviously a little cheese is healthy in that its a good source of calcium but it definitely should not be on a dieter's menu in any large quantities... As a treat a cheese and avocado pita - on wholemeal bread is fine every now and again not everyday- but maybe something like an avocado and barley salad with pumpkin seeds would be a better option or if you fancy a cheesey treat then indulge with a goats cheese salad with rocket (or raw spinach), roasted tomatoes, and peppers. (Cheese is one of the most common yet un-noticed food intolerances - goats cheese is easier to digest and less likely to cause intolerance)
