They are the same thing. They could help if weight gain is due to an underactive thyroid, otherwise it won't have much effect. If that's the reason for weight gain, any vegetable, herb or spice from the cabbage family may make the condition worse because mustard oil depresses thyroid function, so those should be eliminated.

I don't know the answer to your question but why don't you just cut out all the obvious crap from your diet and take regular exercise to lose weight?
