Answer:Do crunches really work for Weight loss
2008-03-10 16:13:06No, they do not burn enough calories to make any difference. You wouldn't lose weight fast enough from just doing one thing one time to notice any difference anyway. You may just be noticing your body finally adapting to the cardio work, as well as the fact that your abs may have become swollen from the crunches and making your stomach seem more toned. Intense cardio and crunches and weighted situps amongst other things will really slim you down and tone you up though!

2008-03-10 16:05:49Crunches really tighten the stomach muscles, so yes they work. It takes time but you'll get there. Usually doing about 100 a day works fine for me, but I'm a girl so I don't know if it differs with males and females.

2008-03-10 16:06:39your body got used to doing all cardio so its not affecting it anymore.... just like when you starve yourself, it holds on to all the nutrients and calories it can to survive. Try to lift weights (if your not already) and cut back on the cardio, 3-4 times a week on cardio at 25-30 minutes a session is PLENTY!

Answer:Do crunches really work for Weight loss
2008-03-10 16:06:04After a while you may start gaining weight because your muscle mass is growing in that area because musclae weighs more than fat. For instance, if you took the arm of a ripped football player and someone with mostly fat on their arm's, the football player's would weigh more unless the amount of fat on the person's arm far surpassed the football player's muscle. Hope I cleared things up!!

2008-03-10 16:05:12Crunches mainly work muscles, not lose fat. If you want to be ripped, do crunches, if you want to be flat, run. Running burns excess fat stored in large reserves (normally your belly)

- Eat right, and continue to do cardio. It should work fine. ( keep up those crunches )

2008-03-10 16:05:22Everything I've read points to no. You could do 1 billion crunches and wouldn't lose any weight. They supposedly strenghthen your core and give you definition if you already have a flat stomach. But if your stomach is fat and flabby you won't see a 6 pack.
