    Dont eat anything too heavy 2 hours before
    Start off walking if you arent that fit, walk for 5, jog for a minute, walk for 5, gradually decrease the walking & build up the jogging. Remember to breathe deeply or you wont get far. And try to push past any build up of lactic acid, you soon get over it
    Jogging by itself wont help you loose weight if you eat junk. A good healthy diet with few fried, salty or sugary foods will do the trick. I just wear shorts & a t, i dont buy special jogging gear cos i sweat buckets regardless of what I wear.

    clothese depends on where you live if it's cold dress in layers - under armour (which I swear by) has cold gear - while expensive it's worth the investment (if you're serious) additionally, gloves, hat or headband to cover your ears. Wear gortex sneaks for inclement weather ie: rain... and be sure to have reflective gear on (if you're in the streets)... also, I love running w/the ipod -music is my motivator! I don't eat before I run b/c I do it once I wake up - I cannot or I'll cramp. however, if that isnt' the case with you you should eat a little something protein based would be best... if you can't do that do a breakfast bar. afterwards drink plenty of water and have your breakfast or whatever... not sure what time of day you're running but you should fuel and re-fuel ... I never thought I'd run and started walking then adding little by little running into the routine less than a couple months later I was running (after warm up) up to 3 miles... now I'm 6 miles a day .. not a marathoner but it's keeping me in shape and I love the morning hours! good luck

    intervals and change is key!! like one day should be a long and steady pace, and the next day should be short and intense.. and then do intervals like 5 minutes warmup, at a fast walk, and then 5 minutes a light jog, and then 5 minutes a run.. and do this cycle for however long you're going for. also, running on sand is much better than a sidewalk.. running in hilly areas is also a good idea for a bigger calorie burn. hiking is good too.
    a clothing necessity for a jogger is good runners. go to your local Sport Check, Intersport, Footlocker, etc. they'll help you find a runner suited best for your needs. a great jogging shoe for me, is aasics.. i just love it. but you could have different opinions, so go to one of the stores and ask for help.
    before meals definately, because (i know it sounds silly, and you've probably heard it before, but..) you'll get cramps and not be able to run as far or as hard as you would after eating.
    make sure to drink lots of water, seeing as theres only ways to burn more calories and fat..
    1. urinating. sounds gross, but it's true.
    2. sweating. probably an obvious one.. : )
    plus, water keeps you fuller so you don't eat more than you should.
    also, good clothing... a must have is definately a sports bra. if youre a girl, which im assuming you are.. lol. anyways you can get some good one at LaSenza Spirit.. if you live in canada.. im not exactly sure if they have LaSenza in the states.. or underarmour makes some great ones too..
    as for shorts and shirts (unless you just wanna jog with the bra) i would purchase from Lululemon, or other brands, such as underarmour or mizuno. they're all relatively expensive, but they'll probably never wear out, and they're of the best quality, which is something you're going to want so it's easier to stick to your jogging plan.
    oh and remember to stretch before and after your jogs, to prevent injury! and run on soft knees, so you don't damage them.
    oh, and if you are really hungry or need some energy, just try a protein bar, or Luna Moon snacks. theyre low in calories, taste great, and give you enough energy to last through about an hour workout!

    Well if you are committed to jogging then i would suggest just regular workout clothes. Make sure to stretch your calves, hamstrings, and groin muscles before hand to avoid injury. Try not to eat the hour before running if you can and also don't drink to much before you do
    Depending on your weight, however, you might not want to jog. I'm about 220lbs and i don't jog because its extremely trying on my knees. Elliptical machines, however, give you the benefits of jogging without hurting your knees, and you can do it in the comfort of the home/ gym.
