2007-08-13 07:57:35Lime doesn't cut fat, though it might cut the heaviness of the taste of fat in rich foods.
Water before meals fills you up a bit more, so you may eat less.

I don't know about the science around this lime thing but if you like lime in your water, go for it.
The important thing is that you drink that water. Weight loss is not the only thing water helps with.

2007-08-13 07:59:26Sure...actually they say that combining lime juice and olive oil is a great cure for gall stones. It cleans out your common byle duct, allowing the "sludge" built up (billyrubin/stones/waste) to flow into the digestive tract. Good for liver function... Very healthy in moderation as a cleanse.

2007-08-13 07:58:22I heard it was lemons in water. That's what i drink before I eat. but idk. They probably both work the same way. Maybe you could switch back and forth for a little variety. :)

2007-08-13 08:04:31the constituents of the food that we eat never interact directly with the cells of the body. so , primarily your theory of lime cutting fat is wrong.
but there are three aditional mechanisms that do seem to help people lose weight when they dring a glass of fresh lime juice with their meals.
a)intake of a large quantity of fluids helps to induce a sense of fullness by distending the stomach mucosa.
b)since lime is very sour, it actually decreases the appetite.
c)lime, being mildly acidic, hepls the gastric acid dissociate to a greater extent, due to an effect called common ion effect, thus atleast ensuring a more complete digestion of whatever you eat.
but ultimately the loss of weight that each person would experience will depend on your constitution, your daily caloric intake and your caloric expenditure.
ps:ponder over this, a pound of limes contains more calories than a pound of strawberies!!

2007-08-13 07:58:27I've never heard that lime cuts fat, I think that's a myth.
Drinking water helps a lot. If there's lime in there, I doubt it would hurt at all. The only way fat leaves your body is through liquids.
