Answer:Does drinking water increase metabolism and in turn cause weight loss
2007-02-20 19:57:22Drinking water can help you lose weight, but not because it increases your metabolism. The are several explanations for the weight loss when you drink more water (preferrably 8-10 glasses a day). First, many people mistake thirst for hunger. Since water is calorie free when you quench your 'hunger' with water instead of food, you are replacing the unnecessary calories with 0 calories.
Secondly, water fills your stomach and you will potentially eat less and still feel full.
Third, people take in a lot of empty calories with sugary drinks like soda and fruit juices to quench their thirst instead of just drinking water.
Finally, water is essential in the removal of fats and toxins and expelling them from your body.......So drink up!

Answer:Does drinking water increase metabolism and in turn cause weight loss
2007-02-20 19:55:14No, it doesn't.
It just causes increased urination, because the body gets rid of the excess water you consume. Some people think that flushes out toxins, but our kidneys are quite efficient in getting rid of toxins with normal amounts of liquid consumption, and excessive water drinking is neither necessary nor healthy. It is an extremely popular myth, though, and most people believe it and are resistant to the truth.
See? The thumbs down says it all. People are so stubborn in their unfounded beliefs that they don't like hearing the truth. Drinking excess water doesn't remove excess fat and toxins... that is so ignorant. Go ahead and drink up folks. It's a waste of time. But do a little research, and please use unbiased sources. And if you drink more than 2 gallons in 2 hours, it can kill you.

Answer:Does drinking water increase metabolism and in turn cause weight loss
2007-02-20 19:58:01Water does not affect your metabolism, it doesn't have any stimulant to help that occur. You can boost your metabolism yourself by increasing you body's need to process calories and carbohydrates. Aerobic exercise is the best method to achieve this...running, brisk walking, and things of that nature are great for your whole body. All diet pills are bad for you and I don't care what they bottle says. 90% of them aren't approved by the FDA for a reason, and you should always be careful of what you introduce into your body. Foods empty of quality nutrition may satisfy your stomach, but the lack of calories and carbs by synthetic sugars also confuses your body into thinking there is a food shortage and actually slows your metabolism down. The best thing to do is to eat a varied diet of veggies, fruits, fish, and chicken. Part of the reason diet products are so successful is because the client does lose weight using them, and then finds they gain the weight back twice as fast when they stop (which proves the metabolic slowdown). Cut out fatty foods that are fried, avoid deserts that are high in sugar and saturated fats, increase your water intake to make it something you drink more of than anything else, and eat small meals frequently throughout the day. That in itself will boost your metabolism and give you the "great" feeling that will make those pounds fall faster.
