Ask:What does it mean that someone lose water weight

I hear people say that they've lost water weight in the beginning of their weight loss, how is that possible? Doesn't the body need like 2 liters of water everyday, if you drink more your body will get rid of it?

The amount of water your body needs depends on how big you are and how much you sweat. People often weigh themselves before they workout, spend an hour on a cardio machine, sweat like crazy, weigh themselves again and pat them selves on the back for losing 3 pounds in a single workout. The reality is that they would have to burn about 10,000 calories to have lost 3 pounds. That just isn???t possible in one hour-long workout. This person may have burned about 1/3 of a pound of fat, and the rest was just sweat that left the body during the workout. As soon as they drink water and go back to normal levels of hydration, they will put most of that weight back on.
Also, when someone first starts to workout, they are used to consuming a certain amount of water. Now that they are sweating more as they are exercising, they need to consume more water. It sometimes takes a little while for them to adapt and start drinking more to make up for the water lost in sweat. People may weigh deceivingly little for the first few weeks because they are constantly dehydrated, They are often disappointed a few weeks later when they have become accustomed to drinking more water, and the weight loss levels off or they even gain a few pounds as they return to normal hydration levels.

Your body is 70% water, it is stored in your cells and is bound with the stored sugar in your liver. When you first start to diet, before your body starts burning fat, it has to use up all stored energy from your liver. As these sugars are released and processed, the water is also released into the bloodstream and then excreted. This will show up as weight loss on the scales, but is not the 'good' kind of weightloss, it does not mean that you have lost any body fat, and the water weight is easiliy regained.

If you exercises then in the beginning it eliminates excess water by excess perspiration and by shocking the other organs in to efficiency.
It happens at the beginning only. It come back if you stop doing the exercises in less then 5 days , can be as much as 5 pounds. 16 Oz of water is 1 pound. Gallon is about 8 pounds.
All of us must drink 1 gallon of water per day.

    PS
If you do not drink enough water then body actually stores it, it thinks, that, there is a draught. That is bad for you, water is suppose to get reed of impurities and along with the water impurities get stored too.

If you are carrying around extra water weight, your legs, ankles, wrists, feet and hands may swell. Water retention is caused by several factors. You may not be eating a healthy diet or drinking enough water, it could be a side effect of medications or even a serious medical condition.
At the beginning of wieght loss you do loose your extra water weight.

boxers and wrestlers lose water weight a few days before the fight because its a quick way to shed pounds, however its not productive for dieting because your not shedding any fat, and you could become dehydrated if you lose too much. what it is though is your body simply drops its water content through long periods of sweating. so its inevitable to not lose water weight that's why its important to drink plenty of water, especially when your active, so you keep your water levels up.

Loosing weight fast is always an unhealthy thing.
There are many diets who tell you that you can loose a lot of weight in no time. And it is working, but you are doing no good to your body. And there's also the Jojo-effect.
The best thing to loose and hold a healthy weight is healthy food, less sugar, lots of drinking water, and sports.
Diet has to begin in your head. And you already started to think about your nutrition. That's an important step. It is too easy just to make a magazine-diet for 2-3 weeks and loose some weight. But it will come back soon again. If you are over-thinking your nutrition and activity, you will have a constantly good result. Isn't that much better and healthier than a crash-diet ?

bcz your body tends to hold on to extra water when you eat carbs, salt and sugar. usually if youre dieting, your not eating much of those things, so your tissues unbloat, which is water weight. most of your water consumption comes from the foods you eat, which is why you dont see anybody checking in to the hospital if they dont drink 8 glasses a day. i dont know why this happens, but i know that it does bcz ive expirienced it.

The amount of water your body carries differs on a daily basis. The amount depends on many factors. Food of course is made of mostly water (along with vitamins, minerals, as well as carbs, proteins, and fats). So it makes sense that when you are on a diet, you will take in less food (and hence, less water). As a matter of fact, if you hear someone say , "I lost 3 pounds yesterday !" or something to that effect, you can be sure that most of that weight was water, and if someone says "I don't know what I'm doing wrong- I gained 2 pounds yesterday." it too was probably mostly water. To loss or gain substantial fat weight in one day would take either a very huge calorie deficit or a huge surplus, meaning working out like a green beret or eating like Jabba the Hutt.
Also, muscles require a lot of water to maintain them. If you lose even a little bit of muscle, you might end up with some water loss.
Real weight loss (fat loss) is actually a really slow process. Unless you are really sick it is really ard to loss more than 2-4 pounds a week of fat.
EDIT: You don't drink more water, you retain more water when you eat more. This is one of the reasons why most diets tell you to drink a lot of water- you're not getting as much water in your food. And your body stores less glycogen (stored sugar in your muscles and liver) when you are dieting. It takes a lot of water to store glycogen. This is especially true in low carbs diets (like Atkins) in which glycogen is depleted.
