ok, how long does it take for the meds to kick in and to prevent migraines, and how long does it take for it to 'kick in' and do the weight loss thing? Both are a positive for me, but i don't want to loose more than 30lbs, then i would have go off the meds.

My sister is epileptic, and took Topamax for that reason. She lost a significant amount of weight, which she didn't mind, because she had a little to lose. I don't know how quickly it happened, but I went without seeing her for about six weeeks and when I saw her, I almost didn't recognize her.
She went off the medication a while later, as is pretty inevidable. She's got it all back......the weight I mean.
Weight loss should have no bearing on your decision at all. As for the migraine question, don't know that either. Just take caution when using this drug. Think about how you will maintain your weight in a healthy way when it's gone. Anorexia can sneak up on any one of us.
