The critical part of the whole thing is consistency -- if you train hard every day (but don't overdo it -- overtraining can negate any progress), eat correctly (I would recommend a nutritionist if you have the money and don't want to make any mistakes), and get plenty of rest (recovery is critical to any training program, and stress doesn't help matters at all), 2 - 3 lbs is definitely possible every week.
Just keep in mind that some weeks will be better than others. That is, sometimes you might lose less than 2 - 3 lbs, sometimes a bit more. (keep in mind that as you lose weight, at some point the body will start to fight you because it doesn't want to see you lose too much weight too quickly -- it's simply the body's way of protecting itself)
