2007-06-07 17:24:15Ok, I am 20y/o, 5Ɖ" and 200lbs and am pretty muscular for a girl. Most days I eat about 1500 calories of food and I really try to make it healthier foods. I eat really well for breakfast and lunch but then at dinner I tend to eat a little less healthy. I definitely do not eat 2000 calories worth of food a day. Anyway, I exercise atleast 3 days a week and now that it is summer I am spending a lot of time outdoors and many times when I exercise, especially with swimming, it is around 2 hours basically everyday. So I am pretty active throughout the week. However, I do not lose any weight. I used to play on a traveling softball team and was extremely active then and still would not lose weight. I don't know what to do. Over time I keep gaining and I just want the weight gone, but nothing I do seems to work and it gets depressing. What's something I can do to get some results?

2007-06-07 17:33:05One possible reason would be an underactive thyroid. Ask your MD to send a Thyroid function panel and see if your thyroid is not producing enough T3 or T4. The other issue may be the level of blood sugar, so another blood test to ask for would be a HgbA1c which monitors the level of sugar in your blood over a number of weeks. Also as you have heard muscle weights more than fat so one way to measure your progress would be a body fat analysis which you can get at a local YMCA or gym. That will tell you what direction you are going. Good luck!

2007-06-07 17:30:14I hope you are adding protein to your diet. Add walking about 2 to 3 miles at least 3 days a week. It works for me and I drop about 1 to 2 pounds a week.

2007-06-07 17:37:15You are doing really well but I think you need to do some targeted muscle building exercises such as sit ups and squats and lunges and maybe some exercises with a resistance band - this will increase your muscle mass and because muscle burns more calories than fat, your body will automatically burn more calories even when you are not exercising - The muscle exercises will also give you a great overall tone to your body and give you a faster metabolism that will stop the weight coming back - Goodluck :0)

2007-06-07 17:37:28ok ill tell u exactly what to do. but first of all, even though u may think u are eating 1500 calories, u might be counting wrong. if thats not the case, then do this. instead of eating breakfast lunch and dinner, split your food into 5-6 equal amounts throughout the days about 3 hours apart. this will keep your metabolism high thoughout the day which will burn much more fat.
Also, what is absolutely vital in losing fat is a low carb diet. lower you carb intake thoughout the day and replace it with more protein. this is absolutely crucial. if know how to count calories then make sure your diet is composed of 50 percent protein, 30 percent carbs, and 20 percent fats while trying to lose weight. for example, for 1500 calories, it would be 150 grams of protein, 113 grams of carbs, and 33 grams of fat per day
learn how to lift weights. this will really keep your metabolism high throughout the week, causing u to burn fat. if u want to further speed the fat burning, buy a fat burner supplement such as hydroxycut hardcore. just check gnc.com or something

2007-06-07 17:29:43Well, i'm unsure of your excercise routine. If your serious about losing weight, join a local YMCA and they have great equipment. If your excercise periods are less then 40 minutes at a time of regular aerobic excercise, then you may need to increase your workout times. I personally jog 4 miles every other day or so, and i've lost 3 pounds in a week. Good luck!, and keep at it

2007-06-07 17:28:44Cut sugar from your diet. Sugar really makes the weight gain. Stay away from foods with lots of carbs. Dont have starchy foods because they are horrible for you when you want to loose weight. Have lots of fruits and veggies and nuts (not salted or flavored).

2007-06-07 17:28:39well how long have you been doing this? it takes alotttt of time! trust me i know. try eating less, make your proportions smaller and don't eat "a little less healthy" sometimes. try to excercise more or longer.
