Answer:Is Geoden good for weight loss
2006-12-21 07:25:30No, this is a misnomer in the medical community that was wrongly elucidated by the results of a clinical trial. While Geodon boasts less weight gain than other antipsychotics it is not a weight loss drug in its own right. The trial that concluded that Geodon also caused weight loss failed to account for the weight that was gained through the use of other antipsychotics.
Ziprasidone is a potent atypical antipsychotic and has significant side effects such as a dose related Extrapyramidal Syndrome. This syndrome is often characterized by a pseudoparkinsonian tremors as well as muscle restlessness (akathisia) and involuntary muscle spasms (dystonia).
That being said it is too dangerous a medication to be taken for weight loss.
As a pharmacist and fledging nutritionist I can tell you that the best regimen I have found for weight loss (I lost 25 pounds in 3 months) is high in oat and fiber cereals, skim milk and green tea. You'll be getting all of your vitamins, protein and antioxidants as well as burning more calories than you take in with minimal exercise.
