Ask:i have a food and weight loss question

I am a college student and eat on about 5 dollars a day for lunch. I want to lose weight through diet and im going to begin weight lifting again. My surround food places are wendys, burgerking, a greasy spoon type restaurant where your arterys clog just looking at it and the student cafe which is usually greasie. I was wonder what i could eat at wendys or burgerking or if skipping lunch all together would be ok if i have a decent breakfast. I know you cant stop eating all together because it will slow the metabolism down. So i was wondering what can i do?

At Wendy's, I always order off of the $1.00 menu. I get a baked potato w/ butter and a little sour cream, chicken nuggets w/ a mandarin orange cup, chili, or a freschata sandwich only. Some Wendy's are starting to carry Baked Lay's which are a healthy alternative to FF. Trust me...I lost 110 pounds and I reffuse to spend more than $3.00 a day for lunch. Good Luck!! :-)

go for the salad and vegetables, eat meat to support the muscles while you weight lift and skip the fries and other greasy morsels.

Can you take an insulated lunch bag around campus? I'd buy bread, mustard, some apples, lunch meats (ham, turkey), and cheese. And store brand yogurts. Buy a flat of bottled water when it's on sale.

Some fat is important if you're going to be lifting. Your body needs the fat and calories or you'll be burning the muscle you're trying to put on.

Or if you can get a half chef salad at the greasy spoons, ask for low-fat dressing. You'll be getting some fat and protein too. And the trick with dressings is to dip your fork in the dressing and then the salad. You eat far less dressing that way.

    Good luck!

Skipping any meal is not a good choice when trying to loose weight. You tend to overeat during your next meal. Wendy's and Burger King have some great salads to choose from. A couple of other choices from Wendy's would be the baked potato or a cup of their chili. The best way to lose weight is to eat six small meals a day. If you did this you never get hungry and if fast food restaurants are you only options then a meal choice from those types of establishments would be a kids size meal. Example: Small hamburger, small fry and small diet drink.

Fast-food? Are those the ONLY options available? There's got to be a grocery store or something close by! You're better off buying some sort of nutritional supplement if you're short on cash. Hell, anything is better than fast-food. But if the answer is really no--you're being honest, right?--then go for something that is grilled or broiled. Skip the mayonnaise, dressing, fries, soft drinks, and desserts.

Fast Food restaurants usually have salads for about $5.oo. So have a salad and water for lunch. Will give you your veggie serving, plus if you don't eat, come dinner you will be starving and probably eat more.
