2007-03-26 08:15:31My plant to this point has been limiting my calorie intake to 1200 a day. I started at 287 and now way 241. I am a six foot tall male with a big build. I have not exersized much during this diet. I have been told that you can not build or tone muscle while you are loosing weight. Is this true. I have two months left before I go on vacation and I want to loose another 30 pounds before that time. Should I join a gym? Will it help?

2007-03-26 08:19:46Wow, that's awesome. Congrats to you. It is not true that you cannot tone during losing weight. I would either join a gym, start walking, etc. Some kind of exercise will help. If you want to tone and gain muscle, your best options are weights.

2007-03-26 08:24:50To lose that much weight and not exercise is amazing. Join a gym and start a cardio program. You want to lift some weight so you wont be all flabby, but congratulations.

2007-03-26 08:46:29Exercise helps build muscle and definition. Your body sounds like it has hit a plateau.
Try doing something active like running or blading (blading burns calories about 1000 an hour from what I've been told). Try something that will give you an all over body workout. Also abs take a lot of wear and tear but are also your "power house" work those out as well and you should be able to lose if not you should be able to tone (which in my book is just as good).
You don't feel fat if you don't look fat.

2007-03-26 08:19:53that's a lot of weight in a very short period of time to lose. Make sure you're not hurting your body...because that doesn't seem to healthy to me.

2007-03-26 08:19:20I think you should join the gym, and start toning and lifting weights, so when you lose the weight it will turn into muscle, and you wont be so saggy if you lift weights, and tone.
