    It's been about 4-5 weeks of eating healthy and exercising. I'm starting to get tired of salads for dinner and raw vegetables and fruits as a snack. It's even harder since I have not seen results and have not lost any weight. Can you offer a meal or two that tastes good, is filling and healthy that I can eat and so will my 14 year old son?

    I don't know of any meal but Weight Watchers is good. Find someone who has the book and find out how many points you need a day and you will definitely lose Or you could go to the meeting and purchase the book. I do not know of anyone who never lost following it. The great thing about it is you don't have to purchase expensive foods, just change somethings to Fat Free or Low Cal. Try it . My 15 yr. old son and I are doing it now. Check out the site. weightwatchers.com.

    Try some baked or grilled salmon (dunno if your son likes fish), with a small serving of carb (rice, potato, pasta salad) and some bright vegies (color means vitamins).
    Marinade some chicken in Italian dressing as it thaws, then put it on a hot (cooling) grill till cooked. This seals in the moisture, but still cooks the meat. Add the carb and vegies...
    For snacks- try some nuts, or jerky.
    Get your son involved. Ask him what he likes, maybe invite him to pick/prepare the carb or vegie. At 14, though, he'll need to adjust his proportions of carbs vs proteins. He'll need the proportions to be more equal, where you can go easy on the carbs.

    How can salads and fruits only be healthy and fulfiling? No wonder you are getting tired.
    First, you must choose a diet that you like, then you will stay on. Inculde an exercise that you like too.
    Then eat healthily with lots of veggies, lean meat and complex carbs and do some exercise, you will not have problem losing some weight and fats.
    I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs and gain better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs for more than a year. My children and husband are eating the same as me, except they eat more complex carbs as they are more active and don't gain weight fast.

    A healthy meal does not mean avoiding fats and carbs. The healthiest meals are ones that are balanced, even for losing weight. To answer your question, try something that has a litlle bit of carbs, a moderate amount of protein, and a little fat to satisfy your tastes. My favorite meal to make is very simple and tastes really good. It is basically seared chicken breasts (fried in about half a teaspoon of oil) on a bed of whole grean beans that have also been seared in the broth with the addition of pasta sauce (make sure they are slightly crunchy).
    I marinade the chicken in lemon, garlic, red pepper, black pepper, and vinegar before I cook it. I cook it on medium until it is cooked and then I poor all the broth out and turn the heat up on high until the chicken is seared. Set the ckicken aside and make sure to cover it. I then turn down the heat and return the broth to the skillet. I add a little water (maybe half a cup or less) and cook the green beans partially (still crunchy). I then add a lot pasta sauce (almost looks blood red) and add oregano and basil and some more red pepper and let the sauce settle with the green beans. For carbs, I usually eat rice (about a cup). Make sure not to eat a lot of rice because too much is bad. The key to eating is moderation. If you feel hungry, eat more beans. By the way, this dish looks beautiful and always attracts attention when I serve it.

    Do you have a grill? Try marinating some lean meat... chicken, turkey, lean beef, and grilling it. Have it with a side dish of steamed or grilled vegetables and whole grain bread or rice. You can use marinades and seasonings that are low in fat to help enhance the flavor.
    Try looking up some grilling recipes on www.allrecipes.com. They have a great selection and you can search for those that are low-fat, healthy, heart-healthy, etc.
