Ask:How can I boost my weight loss without pills
2006-07-21 07:12:55I have been in the gym for 8 weeks, working out 4-5 times a week. I try to eat at least 1500 calories a day, but I was never a foodie and have to work hard to make that goal.
I do spin twice a week, yoga once a week, do cardio 4-5 days a week, plus weight training 1-2 times a week, and upper body and planks at home.
When I started I weighed 180, and eight weeks later, I weigh 174. I am committed, but starting to feel frustrated. How long should it take a person doing all this to reach 140lbs, and how can I boost my weight loss to 2lbs a week?
My doctor and trainer have both warned me that any lower than 1500 calories will lower my metabolism. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

2006-07-21 07:21:27Don't give up, remember that you are building muscles and losing fat, muscles weight more than fat. You're doing great, stay committed. I know it's frustrating and you want to see results faster. but it is much healthier too lose it slowly. stop weighing yourself except maybe once a month. your goal is to lose inches not your weight. judge yourself on how you feel, the more energy you have and how are your clothes fitting. good luck

2006-07-21 07:49:02If you're not already try to spread out your meals. Eat six times a day, no more than a cup everytime. Stick to healthy food and lean protein. No cheating! No Treats! No Giving UP!
Alright, so you've been in the gym for eight weeks. What I see happening is your body fat is being transformed into muscle. You are losing fat wieght and turning it right into muscle weight. What you're probably noticing is why am I still the same size? Well, as your muscles under the fat is growing it is making you bulk up and with all the body fat not gone you layer them up and you appear the same size.
Here's what I can suggest for you:
-do more cardio and aerobics
-take hour long walks daily
-jump rope, I forget what the ratio is but jump roping is more beneficial for you when you compare it to jogging for the same amount of time.
-jog with moments of sprinting, go uphill/downhill
-MORE IMPORTANTLY-when you lift use weights that you can do 20 reps of and do 2-3 sets of those instead of less reps more sets.
-get a sweat suit and run. you can actually sweat off a couple pounds but ALWAYS STAY HYDRATED because your on a very good workout routine.
-THINK HEALTHY, EAT HEALTHY
Change your mind's way of thinking. Don't believe that what you eat will make you fat (you must practice healthy eating though). Stay away from so much processed food and try organic when you can. Really focus on turning your fat into muscle and turning your food into fuel for your mind and body. Program yourself and tell yourself you don't need to store fat. Don't get frustrated because you don't see results. You're focusing on the physical aspect too much and I know that's your goal but realize that you have conditioned your body as a starting platform for change and it can only get better. If you work for it and you really want it your thoughts and efforts will manifest into the physical appearance that you want. Honestly, losing 34 pounds could take a while and I'm not going to give you a number because you'll lose focus on your main mission. Just know that if you want a healthy body without risks and without harming yourself it takes patience. Everyday that you commit is a day you lose the pounds.

Eat within half hour of rising, and a little bit before and after each workout. 1500 calories is a low amount for intake. Be very careful not to make yourself sick.

2006-07-21 22:55:35The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you???re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:
*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/...
Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.
Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.ht...
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/w...
It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.
*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.
Avoid ???High Glycemic Load Carbs??? (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:

Answer:How can I boost my weight loss without pills
2006-07-21 07:18:28Believe it or not you might not be eating enough! If you do a lot of exercise your body needs to refuel and if it doesn't get enough food it will hold onto any fat stores.
Also, muscle weighs more than fat so it may be that as you've lost fat you've developed muscle. It's far better to judge weight loss by how tight or loose your clothes feel on you rather than rely on the scales.
