2007-10-04 22:13:16Exercise, A LOT. Have you ever seen "The Biggest Loser" and see how hard they work out? They do that for 4 hours a day. I don't recommend you work out that long, but you should work out at a high intensity for an hour 3 times a week. Walk or swim the other 4 days.
Make sure you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't skip meals, it lowers your metabolism and it makes it hard for you to lose weight efficiently. Your diet should contain whole grains, lean meats, all the fruit and veggies you want and include nuts (almonds are great and heart healthy) and yogurt (the calcium helps keep weight off and it's sweet, so it's like a treat) for snacks. Drink lots of water, and if you can, try staying away from diet drinks because they can trigger cravings for salt. Try Crystal Light, the peach tea and pomegranate are my favorites. (they have single serving packets for your water bottles)
There are certain tricks I use to help me with my cravings.
If you have a sweet tooth, make sure you eat lots of fruit. Grapes, peaches, plums, bananas, and apricots are my favorites. I notice that when I eat my fruit ( 3 servings or more a day) I don't miss sugar.

Just because you're dieting doesn't mean you can't reward yourself. I discovered bison (buffalo) burgers. I get them at Trader Joe's. Bison is LEANER than turkey and in my opinion, tastes wayyyy better than beef. That patty on a whole wheat bun is a lot better for you than any other burger.
To help you stay full, a handful of almonds does wonders, and avocados. They're GOOD fats and heart healthy foods.
I wish you luck, but remember, quick really isn't the way to do it. It took time to put the weight on, it might take time to take it off.

On top of that just make sure you take a multivitamin......fiber is best in the mornings to flush out your system and proteins are great throughout the day. Also for carbs (breads, fruits, sugars) try to cut them out after 3pm or so...don't eat carbs at night. This is how I lost 30 pounds and now I am a size 2-4 and healthier than ever!

Then check your diet. You can eat healthy, but still be consuming too many calories. You need to spend at least 2 days writing down every, single thing you eat. Then you'll have a good idea of where to start.
There's no "quick" way to lose weight. You didn't gain it over night, so it won't come off over night.
Also...try to find a weight loss buddy. That helped me when I was trying to lose my post pregnancy weight.

Keep yourself occupied with other things away from those sweets, eat a good breakfast and eat a healthy snack in between meals. Low fat yogurts, low fat string cheese, fruits and veggies make great healthy snacks. You must eat healthy it is key in loosing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
I found motivation in myself because I seen the pig that I had become. I didn't even have any energy and felt like going to sleep too much. One day I just got up and began to workout then that same day I made my self my workout plan and printed it out. I said I will not stop, I have gone this far so I just can't stop. Even though I had a few obstacles now and then I still continued to workout. My life completely changed for the better. My doctor said I am healthier than him. I went from a size 9 pants to a size 5. I wasn't trying to loose pants sizes but am glad. I got a nice toned, healthy body with some sexy abs that I had always dreamed of.
