Answer:How do you keep yourself motivate when trying to lose weight
2007-04-05 08:06:26Wanna know what's keeping me motivated? I am not weighing myself. I have been exercising for the past 2 years now, three times a week and dieting with hardly any results. About a month ago I kicked it up a notch and this is what I did....
- I went through all my clothes and put aside all the clothes that used to fit. (I call them 'hopefuls') I put them all in a bag except for the ones that I used to really love, I kept those ones out. When I am choosing something to wear, my favourite 'hopefuls' are sitting there waiting. I'm not gonna weigh myself until some of those hopefuls fit me because that scale gets me down a lot of the times when I don't see it move. I'm sure that will put me twenty pounds lighter on the scale.
- I went out and bought a protien shake mix. the one that I bought is chocolate and if you let it settle, it can be turned into a pudding instead.
- I eat more little meals instead of a few big ones.
- And now I excersize 5 times a week. One out of the five sessions is an hour long on the eliptical. All the other ones are only half an hour or whatever I fit in, but at least 20 minutes. I even excersize on my breaks at work.
- I have given up fast food and anything to drink besides those shakes and water.
- Do a body or colon cleanse. That might make you lose a few pounds in a hurry and that may get your motivation fueled back up.
Good luck and be safe!

2007-04-05 13:39:52I find that setting small attainable goals works much more effectively then setting huge goals. For example I really want to loose a lot of weight but I know if I tell myself that I have to loose say 70 pounds that that is a lot of pressure so instead I say, I want to loose five pounds by next month, once you see the results you realize that it is attainable and you increase your goals. Get it? Or you can find an outfit or something that you want to buy but you can only buy it if you loose a certain amount of weight, say 10 pounds, it's more of reward that way and give your incentive to keep going.
Also, loosing weight is a life long callenge and something that you have to change your life to keep up with so you have to be willing to change your mind as well as your eating habits.
Good Luck and try not to get too frustrated. I have been at a plateau for weeks but I am still trying really hard to stay focused.

2007-04-05 10:31:34buy a swimsuit or outfit in the size that you realisticly hope to fit into. then hang it somewhere that you will always see it like in the living room by the tv. or on a kitchen wall. it will remind you not to pig out and be lazy, plus it will be a little reward you know you will get if you keep at it. it would work better if you have already spent the money. you would say "i don't want to waste it so i better not eat that bowl of popcorn" instead of "well, just one bowl won't hurt, i still have a while".
also, try to get one of your friends to enroll in an aerobics class, or a sport with you. it would be more fun to do something together. also, if you have a commitement to a team or something where you've already paid, it will make you feel like you have to go, so you won't back out. Good Luck! But don't get carried away, don't worry about the numbers on the scale...you could weigh 150 and still look hott! Its about how you look and feel, not how much the scale says - muscle weighs more than fat!

2007-04-05 08:10:33hehe yeah right sex.. but having too much exercise may affect your sexual desires as in it will be down. you should motivate yourself in a good way like if you exercise regularly you're showing how much you love yourself because if you think about the benefits you might get, it will brighten you that its good to always get an exercise and its very addictive because it has a relaxing effect.also, your excluding yourself to the many candidates of heart diseases. if you want to see the results immediately you should do it with diets.

2007-04-05 09:48:30Honey, first of all, are you someone who really needs to lose weight? Are you overweight or obese? Or could you "just stand to lose some weight"?
It is very difficult to get rid of weight when we think of "DIET" as the initials for "Don't Imagine Eating This". Denying ourselves the treats that we really like almost always inevitably leads to binging...then the guilt after the binging...and then occasional purging(if you are anything like me)...and then guilt for purging...and then the whole "Why the Eff do I even bother?" and beating ourselves up and blah blah blah.
I still have days like that. I had a whole two months like that. But I look at how far I have come and I know that I can do this. I have to pick myself up, let yesterday be yesterday, and let today be a new day.
If exercise is the problem, once you get into a routine, you will feel really strange on days when you don't exercise. You will notice the difference in energy levels on days worked out compared to days when you miss your work out.
I am a success story-watching what you eat and exercising really does work. I have bad days. But a little less than one year, I went from 315 pounds to 211 pounds.(I had gotten down to 205.5, but remember, I am not perfect. A gain of 5.5 pounds in the big scheme of things really isn't that bad, tho! I will lose it again and then some).
Wishing you all the best. PM me if you need to!
