Ask:Important Question about weight Loss help please
2009-01-30 07:11:22(I KNOW THIS IS THE WRONG CATEGORY)
I am looking for serious answers please. But i can understand if you give me stupid ones.
Im not here to tell you about my problems, but i have to explain first before i ask my question.
I was about 135lbs in 2005. I stayed that little till 2006 during summer, After my mom passed in May. I went through severe depression and all i did was become lazy and eat too much. I couldn't help it. And please dont say that i could, because i couldnt. It was the urges and i was going through alot. I am now about 195lbs. I know, embarrassing right. I am 17 years old, so I'm still young, wanting to make a change. I have thought about ways to lose weight, but they just dont help. I am asking, from any of you whose experienced or knows alot about losing weight for sure.
How much weight do i need to lose per week? What daily exercises can i do? What do i need to do to start toning my body while trying to lose weight without excess skin? No diet pill suggestions please.
One thing i do know is i know the calorie intake so im good on that. I'm doing this for health reasons and im sick of the way i look. Please anyone?
Thanks so much,
Michelle Mae

2009-01-30 07:20:52First of all, I'm so sorry about your mom. I would suggest a food journal to write down EVERYTHING you eat. Drink only water..eventually it will be all you'll want. I walked 15 minutes the first 2 weeks, then 30 minutes the next month then 45 minutes a day 4-5 days a week. I ate lean cuisine for lunch. Pigged out of sugar free jello & pops. I lost from 200 down to 140 within 8 months. 2 pounds a week is desirable for long term weight loss. Best of luck to you.

2009-01-30 07:21:19I lost 50 lbs by drinking close to 64 ounces of water a day. I didn't go on a "diet" I just stopped eating excessively and stopped eating between meals. Plus I exercised every day for 30 minutes.
As far as exercise goes, I would use a stationary bicycle for about 20 minutes, then use my mom's "total gym" which is essentially a strength and muscle building work out. I also did crunches which helped with belly fat.
It took me about 6 months to loose the 50 lbs.

2009-01-30 07:21:52Hey Michelle,
I, too have experienced depression weight gain. First, let me start off by telling you that you are still young and your body really doesn't stop growing until your early 20's (so I've read, but I'm no doc). You never know you could probably thin out by 20, who knows?
Second, just pace yourself. Don't stress yourself more by following guidelines set by other people. If you have a goal you can still meet it, but don't kill yourself in the process. I am in the process of losing weight, but I'm doing it in MY time. After all, losing weight is a life change of your daily habits (you've got a great start by counting your calories). That's another reason for pacing yourself. In the process, do what makes you happy. Buy yourself something nice and reward yourself(but not with food).
Well, God bless and hang in there.

2009-01-30 07:23:08Well Michelle, you should talk to your Dr. first, of course.
When I wanted to lose the weight and keep it off for good, that is the first place I went, to my physician.
I was able to lose 5 to 6 pounds a week healthily and change my eating habits for the rest of my life so that I will never be heavy again. I walked, rode my bike and stopped eating carbohydrates for six months. I made my own diet, out of common sense. I now eat 3 to 4 snacking meals a day - 20 some years later I am glad I made the decision to control my eating when I was young, and you will to.
Do an activity that you enjoy doing. Don't try and force yourself to run a mile, if you hate to run - your doomed for failure in that. And also make the conscious choice in your mind to stay busy, not fall into the snacking nightmare. Allow yourself one indulgence a week, if you've stayed true to your plan.
Don't diet - just change the way you think, the foods you buy and the key, always is moderation. I do not have to deny myself things anymore - I just eat half a slice of cake, instead of a whole one.

2009-01-30 07:23:49I am sorry you lost your mom. That is alot to deal with.
Start by limiting your calories per day. I have found it is alot easier to lose weight when i control my portions so I eat the diet entrees that you can buy at the store such as Healthy choice, Lean cuisine etc...
I eat a protein bar or a yogurt for breakfast, a diet entree for lunch and one for supper. For the exercise just start walking. If you have a track in your area then start off with a mile per day and gradually increase it.
This will work. You can do it. It is really hard to get the weight off after you have hit the 200 mark on the scales so you are starting out great.
It will take a while. Make small goals such as ten to fifteen pounds.
I have lost 25 pounds by doing the things above and you can too.
God Bless!

2009-01-30 07:26:05Hi Michelle,
First off, I am not really an expert on weight loss, but i have recently experienced losing weight via exercise and diet, so i think i could share some pointers with you.
How much do i need to lose per week?: In my experience, about 1 lb. to 2 lbs per week should be sufficient enough. In the first couple of weeks of your weight loss regimen you might get minimal weight loss, but if you keep on going you will see results.
What Daily exercise can i do? Cardio is usually the best exercise for losing excess weight. Running / Jogging, Aerobics are the usual. An hour of these everyday usually helps.
What do i need to do to start toning my body while trying to lose weight without excess skin?: Other than Cardio, lifting weights is also needed to keep your muscles firm, which prevents your skin from sagging.
Oh, if ever you have the craving for sugary or fatty foods, try to drink a whole glass of water first, it can make you lose that craving.
Hope this helps :)

2009-01-30 07:28:03weight loss per week if you do it right about 1-2 pounds a week....
but hunny don't get ahead of yourself...
You should be doing at least 30-60 minutes a day of vigorous exercise, a fast walk, jog, stair machine etc...
To tone your body I would say either free weights or machines three times a week, you need to rest a day in between when weight lifting, You could also try yoga it's a great way to relax and tone your body...
Keep in mind losing weight about 80/20...80% is of what your eating and 20% is regular exercise.....you should have an assessment done for yourself....find out what is the healthy weight for your height and age group...
Also everyone is different so what might work for some, might not work for you....try different types of exercise or weight training until you find what is right for you =)
If you eat right, drink lots of water and exercise regularly you should have no problem losing the weight...
Just stay confident and don't give up! =)
