2007-12-20 13:17:41Its not terrible but you need more solid foods like there is great vitamins from fruit and Veg but not much protein which you would get in Red Meat, Meat, Eggs, Poultry etc.
So you could have a good protein filled solid dinner, cereal or a fruit salad for your breakfast and anything else fruit or veg!

2007-12-20 13:10:49Actually, beans and lentils provide great amounts of protein and fiber. It is very easy to get a good amount of protein on a vegetarian diet.
Honestly, have you ever heard of anyone (besides anorexics, etc) in the US (or UK even) with a protein deficiency? The meat industry likes us to think we can never get enough, but too much protein can leech calcium from the bones, and cause kidney stones.
Do your research, find out what good non-meat foods have protein, eat those.

2007-12-20 13:30:04There exist a great number of approaches to diet and to weight loss. I feel that if you quickly switch to a diet that may be very different from the one you are currently on may not be the best thing. It may shock the body.
A rapid change can cause your body to start exuding unpleasant odors. You wouldn't want that, would you?
To make a change, go about it in steps, eliminating one or a few items at a time, and at the same time incorporating the new ones.
Veggies and fruit alone (fresh ones, I hope!) may not repair tissue. We need amino acids for that, so find foods that will supply these. If you prefer a vegetarian diet, include whole nuts but these must be thoroughly chewed, tofu, maitake mushrooms, lentils, millet and such sources that are rich in amino acids.
And do include the omegas found in flax seed oil and/or fish oils.
By the way, the fastest way to lose weight is by going on a water fast, but this, I insist, should be done under the supervision of someone experienced in this practice.

2007-12-20 13:06:49absolutely not. that is only a short term way to lose weight. as soon as you go back to eating regular foods you'll gain most of the weight that you lost back. successful long term weight loss is to cut calories and eat healthy and exercise. eating fruits and vegetables provides you no protein and will not give you much energy throughout the day. essentially because of how few calories are in fruits and vegetables, you would be starving your body. stick to fruits, veggies, and lean proteins and whole grains combined with exercise and that will be your guarantee for weight loss. and remember safe weight loss is losing 1 to 2 pounds a week.
