Ask:My weight loss plan Does anyone this will work
2008-01-14 11:47:14My weight loss plan is to create a 50,000 calorie deficit over 50 days. That's a 1,000 calories a day or 2 pounds a week. I plan to accomplish this by eating right and working out. My meal plan will be to have portion control, more vegetables and fruits, and no soda.
My workout plan is to lift weights 3 times a week, then follow that up with 20 minutes of cardio. I know I won't be able to gain much muscle is I'm cutting calories, but I'm going to lift just to maintain my current muscle. Plus I've read that weight lifting before cardio helps accelerate fat loss. I'm also going to do 2 cardio days a week, and 2 rest days.
Does this sound like a good plan? Anyone have an experiences lifting before cardio and whether or not it worked?

2008-01-14 11:59:14Your plan sounds great. Just remember you must eat at least 1200 calories a day and you have to eat enough protein. If you follow your plan you will lose weight. If your current plan becomes too difficult, decrease your daily calorie deficit to 500.
Cardio after weight lifting is the way to go. It has worked for me and many others.
This is what I typically tell people to do to lose weight, which is very similar to your plan.
To lose fat:
Strength train for 30 ??“ 45 minutes, 2-3 times a week
Cardio for 30 minutes, 2-3 times a week
Get a pedometer and walk 10,000 steps a day
Decrease your calories by 250 calories a day.
Limit your consumption of white foods: white bread, white sugar, white potatoes, white pasta and white rice.
Limit your consumption of saturated fats and trans fats.
The best strength training exercises:
Squats ??“ Lower Body
Lunges ??“ Lower Body
Push-ups ??“ Chest & Triceps
Pull-ups/Chin-ups ??“ Back & Biceps
Shoulder Press ??“ Shoulders & Triceps

Answer:My weight loss plan Does anyone this will work
2008-01-15 12:50:41Successful weight loss does take some discipline and it does take getting used to living in a new way and with a new relationship to your food and to your body. But the results are worth it.
In the past seven months, I have lost over 72 pounds by doing just a few things:
1. Keep a daily journal of every single thing you eat. Get a calorie book so you will know how many calories each thing has. Studies show that just doing this causes many people to automatically reduce their food intake.
2. Reduce calories to 1600 calories a day. It might seem a bit low as if hunger is inevitable, but see the next tip to resolve the hunger problem. By the way, the average person in the Western world eats two to three times as many calories each day...and that's why the most common causes of death in these countries are related to high calorie, high fat lifestyles.
3. Hunger isn't a problem for me on 1600 calories a day because I eat fresh, organic fruits and vegetables whenever I feel a bit peckish. If you get your daily recommended minimum servings of veges and fruit i.e. 5 servings, you'll find that you just aren't particularly hungry for most of your day. If you go beyond the minimum, you will find it nearly impossible to find room for junk food.
4. Limit fat intake to 40 grams of fat a day. This is quite easy to do just by eliminating processed foods and relying primarily upon fresh, natural foods. In other words, try really hard to eliminate anything that comes in a box and has a long list of complex ingredients that you don't even begin to know what they are.
5. Eat only fresh, organic, lean forms of protein. Keeping the meat lean lowers the fat content and thus makes it easier to stay at or under your daily 40 gram fat limit. While organic products are quite controversial in the U.S., the simple fact is that organic meat is a. pesticide free whereas regular meat is loaded with it, b. is free from even the risk of "mad-cow" disease as it has not been fed contaminated feed, and it has been demonstrated to have much higher nutritional value.
6. Exercise one hour a day. Every single day. After all, one hour a day isn't a lot of time compared to all the benefits of saving your health and your life.
7. Finally, don't forget to consult a doctor before you begin a diet and exercise program.
Good luck! You can do this. I know you can because I'm already 70% of the way to my goal.

2008-01-15 21:03:13So here are 3 simple tips to speed up your new slimline frame.
1. Eat breakfast. Not just any fatty, sugary and/or salty excuse for breakfast sometime in the middle of the morning purloined from a major fast food chain or greasy spoon cafe. Eat a high energy complex carb type breakfast when you get out of bed. Get up earlier if you have to. Breakfast is important. This is the food that is going to give you the energy to power through to lunchtime without a calorie laden stomach-stretching morning tea to overturn your best weight control aspirations.
2. Drink heaps of water. At least 2 litres per day. You will pee like a draughthorse and become intimate with every bathroom in your orbit, but you have to do it if you want to lose weight and keep it off. Water hydrates you and fills you up. It staunches food cravings and flushes toxins out of your system.
Don't worry, it does not make you fatter! While you're at it, wean yourself off the sugary drinks - your tastebuds will stop protesting eventually and kick the sugar habit if you hold out on this one.
Personally, to kick my aversion to plain old water, I visualised myself stranded on a deserted island. I figured I'd be grateful to find a fresh water supply to keep me alive, so the bottled and carbonated waters that were available to me as part of my weight control diet became more desirable in my fevered (deluded?) imagination. The important tip not to miss here is that my harmless little daydream worked for me.
3. Get moving. Walk for at least 45 minutes (preferably an hour) every day. Start as you mean to go on. (Hey, do not forget to take a litre of water with you and make sure you drink the lot - that's half your daily water quota done).
Set the duration of your daily exercise by earmarking the amount of time and time of day that you will walk. Over the weeks and months (gasp, yes walking is forever) you will go faster and therefore further every day, but you won't need any more time for it. Walking is the single most successful exercise done by people who have lost their fat and maintained their goalweight. Be one of these people.

2008-01-14 11:52:24I think your going to not lose as much as you could, because your body will go into starvation mode. It will try to hold on to the fat!
