Ask:What is a normal healthy pace of weight loss
2007-11-13 14:33:13I am on a diet I was put on by a doctor. It's been working. I average about 4-5 pounds a week. Is this a good amount. Obviously I would love to lose more each week but I want to be healthy.
Answer:What is a normal healthy pace of weight loss
2007-11-13 14:41:50Healthy weight loss pace would be around 1-3 lbs a week. But when you first start, you lose more.
It also depends on how much you weigh currently. If somebody's BMR (basic metabolism rate) is averaging 2000 calories a day, if they reduce their food intake to 1500 calories a day, they'll burn more than somebody who's BMR is only 1600 calories a day. The more you weigh, the higher your BMR is.
Hope that helps (:

2007-11-13 14:50:494-5 lbs is great. Too much weight loss too fasty is not good. That would put you at a weight loss of 16-20 lbs in a month. That's not fast enough for you? Many would kill to have that problem.
