I know Michael Thurmond is pretty good he's been on a lot of makeover shows where people lost weight pretty fast. It even says if you don't lose 30 pounds within 6 weeks you get your money back. Do you guys think it seems like a good thing to do? The only thing is it's like 140 so that's why I'm not sure.

What is the difference between overweight and obesity? As the NIDDK (National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive And Kidney Diseases) explains 'Overweight refers to an excess of body weight compared to set standards. The excess weight may come from muscle, bone, fat and/or body water. Obesity refers specifically to having an abnormally high proportion of body fat. A person can be overweight without being obese, as in the example of a bodybuilder or other athlete who has a lot of muscle. However, many people who are overweight are also obese.'
According to the Centers for Disease Control, obesity is defined as "the condition of an excessively high amount of body fat or adipose tissue in relation to lean body mass."
The most commonly used method for determining overweight and obesity is the Body Mass Index (BMI) This is a calculation based on height and weight but does not specifically measure percent of body fat.
    The mathematical formula is:
weight (kg) / height squared (m2).
A normal BMI would be between 18.5 and 24.9
However it should be noted that while BMI is both a quick and simple way to quantify a persons weight it does have its limitations as a means of determining ideal weight and should only be used as a general guide.
    Health Risks
Overweight and obesity are risk factors for diabetes, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis (degeneration of cartilage and bone), sleep apnea and other breathing problems and some forms of cancer (uterine, breast, colorectal, kidney and gallbladder)
    Statistics
The prevalence of overweight and obesity in adults has steadily s 12-19) were overweight in 2000.
In the USA nearly one-third of adults are obese and nearly two-thirds of U.S. adults are overweight (includes those who are obese).
