Ask:PCOS and weight loss .
2008-07-29 08:13:25I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and have been told that it is VERY hard to lose weight due to the insulin resistance that accompanies PCOS...I need to lose about 80-100 lbs with in 9 months...has anyone had any success with losing weight with PCOS and insulin resistance? How did you do it? How much weight did you lose in what amount of time... ALL of your advice will be helpful. Thank you

2008-07-29 08:23:14Well i was diagnosed with PCOS about 1 year ago. My first piece of advice is to check out the site www.soulcysters.net
There is a wealth of information there and millions of women with PCOS who can help you.
Are you taking metformin? That is a pretty standard medication for the IR and it often helps with weight loss. Why do you need to lose so much weight so fast? I am not saying its impossible, but I will tell you it will be really hard. I have only lost 7 pounds and I have been trying for about 2 months now, but everyone's body works differently. Diet and exercise are the key. But seriously go to that website. If you can't find you answer there then there isn't one!
