Ask:Is a plan for gradual weight loss and maintenance better than losing a lot of it right away

I joined a gym and am feeling better because of it but I still have some belly fat to lose. I'm wondering, is it better to lose the weight gradually or try to lose it quickly? I've heard that certain diet fads where people try to lose weight quick only end up making them gain more weight afterwards.

Losing gradually is best, but if you are morbidly obese your doctor will probably pressure you to lose weight rapidly. The gradual method is best because you are more likely to keep it off. I've heard that losing 2-3 pounds per week is optimal. Usually if you lose a lot of weight on a diet it is water weight and you end up hurtin' and then you gain all the weight back and sometimes then some. If you have any access to a trainer at your new gym, they should be able to help you with an exercise regemin and possibly recommend a nutritionist who can help you figure out what you should and shouldn't be eating.

Loose it slowly, you will keep it off longer. If you loose weight too fast you are likely to gain it back and it's not safe for you. Try eating veggies and also load up on milk/dairy and also Fiber. Be patient it will come off.

I use an all natural cleansing replenishing system that allows safe FAST weight loss.
If you lose weight the right way it is okay to lose it quickly. With the system I use I CLEANSE the inside of my body and I am not losing lean muscle mass, or water weight.
If you just lose water or lean muscle then the weight does come back.
I have lost 30 lbs and kept it off for a year.

Losing it gradually is better for the body. Too much weight too fast is unhealthy for the heart. Mo.

Losing weight gradually is better because you can keep off the weight you lost, once you lost it. I`ve had this bad experience with a diet that helped me lose 10 pounds in a month and then I gained 14 pounds over the next 2 months. Since then I`ve used this diet and workout planner I found on www.projectweightloss.com -it???s free. It lets you keep a record of how many calories you eat and how many you burn, and it tells you if you???re over, or under, your required calorie intake to reach your target weight

Go slowly, you have to retrain your body and mind. So many people try a quick fix only to gain all of the weight they lost and a little more. Continue working out at the gym. Ask one of the trainers for exercise tips targeted for you belly. There's always someone at the gym with a killer body, ask them how they did it. They are generally willing to help.

Lose it gradually.Losing too fast shocks your body, makes it think food has become scarce, and it will store more calories in fat around belly first

you are on the right track. lose your weight sensibly and over time because its more healthy for you and check into weight watchers. if that doesnt interest you, then watch what you put in your body...ie...fats, extra carbs, sugars...doing this and working out will put you on a path to living a long and healthy life. after all, arent you looking at it as a way of life instead of just dieting? you should. i applaud your effort and that stubborn belly fat will soon start falling off, its usually the last thing to go. people that lose weight all at once it seems will relapse because they arent learning how to keep it off and will gain that much more when they gain it back and they will gain it back. take your time and do it right.

gradual is always the best way, but people dont want to wait for gradual. We want everything NOW! :)
Just keep up the good work. Be healthy. Workout. The weight loss will come and you will gain muscle too.
Be patient. Its a lifestyle change not a quick fix. Goodluck to you and congrats!

1 1/2 - 2 lbs a week is the best average weight loss. Losing weight too fast can cause many health problems. Congratulations
on your new healthy life style. Keep up the good work

It's better to loose weight gradual, doing it right away will have an negative effect on your body. First of all you'll have a problem with extra skin, which can be solved with plastic surgery, but I don't think you'll be ok with that, it can cost more than the diet or the gym. :) My advice is to take it slowly, doing this, your body will deal much better with the problem.
