Hi yall,I am very curious about getting prescribed a weight loss pill and if it possible through your doctor...I believe my aunt and grandma had it done...because they're skinny little rails and they weren't before...they wont tell anyone there secret and they werent that big to where they needed to get any surgery either...its seems that any doctor office you go to or even to get prescriptions there all tinier than heck...come on now...there is a solution to this and there getting something...so i am not saying i am huge...but I could afford to lose 20-25 pounds... and diet and exercises is not working out either! Is it possible for a doctor to prescribe me something? I want answers would appreciate anything and to those who will be honest, thanks.

There aren't any miracle drugs for weight loss. Some docs still prescribe phentermine (half of the old Fen/Phen combo). It's a stimulant, so it speeds up your metabolism a little, and suppresses your appetite (for a while).
Another option is a fat blocker like Orlistat (available now over the counter as Alli). These work by preventing your body from absorbing some of the fat you eat, so the fat literally passes through you without your actually absorbing the calories. This has had limited success, but has a really nasty side effect...loose stools, diarrhea and "anal leakage.".
The problem with any drug-based solution is it's short-term. If you want to lose weight permanently, you have to change your behavior permanently. Unfortunately, this behavior change requires that you burn more calories than you consume (while your're losing), then burn an amount of calories equal to what you consume (to maintain).
