2008-04-23 19:42:05i run 40-0 mins a day but i wanna lose weight...i was wondering is it better to vary the speed and run without incline or should i incline my treadmill...because incline gives you more of cardio but im not sure how it works for weight loss...

if you want to incorporate weight loss into your treadmill workout then start running at intervals, i.e. run at 80-90% of you maximum for 30sec and then 50-60% of your max for 30s and repeat for 10- 15 mins. of you could run for 20- 30 mins alternating between 65 and 75% for 1 min each. ie if your run at 6.5 comfortably for 30 mins then run @ 6.3 an 6.8 at 1 min each.

running on an incline just builds the leg muscles faster than running flat.
youll have stronger hamstrings thighs and glutes. and youll definitely lose weight.
sometimes lay it flat and run farther than on incline for more of an endurance and weight loss approach.
on high incline, youll still lose weight, but your legs and butt will get stronger too. you might not be able to go as far.
just vary it
and remember muscle ways more than fat so if your running on an incline and building leg muscle you wont lose as much
