Ask:Steady cardio vs weight training for fat loss
2012-01-27 14:22:33 +0000I am desparate to lose 30 lbs. I have changed my diet to eat 6 small meals including protien and slow carbs. So far I have lost 4 pounds in one week. To accelerate this should I walk for 45min in my fat burning zone 3 x's per week or do resistance excersize with light weights??? I really want to build toned lean muscle. Anyone have experience with this??? and results?? I am in my mid 40's (woman) Thanks in advance.
Answer:Steady cardio vs weight training for fat loss
2012-01-27 14:29:47 +0000Effective resistance training with progressively heavy weights dramatically increases your metabolism, in the long term burning a lot lot more calories than what you'd burn during the duration of steady cardio. So weight training is alot more effective for fat burning, so long as it's progressive, if you're doing the same thing every time then your body won't need to adapt and it'll do nothing for your metabolism. Avoid isolation exercises, stick to compound (multi-joint) movements and make sure you're doing them properly.
