Ask:Teenage weight loss question s
2009-01-30 13:21:38I'm 15, 5ཆ, and I weigh about 185 pounds (according to our bathroom scale, so give or take 5 pounds). My BMI is 26.5, which isn't good. I want to get to a healthy weight, not for the sake of being thin (I love the way I look), but for my health.
Basically all my family is overweight and not very health conscious. We don't have "meals", it's kind of a fend-for-your self-and-find-a-TV-dinner environment.
Being 15, I have no way to buy healthy foods or buy any exercise equipment. I try to walk home from school daily, which is about a 1.2 mile walk. I try to watch cholesterol/ saturated fat intake, but in the end after all the frying and buttering, I lose track.
Are their any creative ways to exercise that don't call for equipment? Any way to build lean muscle without weights? Any way I can scavenge for something healthy in the food pantry (or cut down the fat content on what I do find to eat)?
Any tips/ advice/ suggestions are appreciated. :
