2007-06-26 08:08:13I've been on my own diet for the past month and i've been excersising like crazy! I've lost 22 lbs in one month and my appetite is barely existant anymore...I started at 140 lbs 5"5'..and now im 118 lbs, Is that too much too soon?I'm 17 and This is the 1st diet ive ever been on so i really dont know how much is normal

I know it can get exciting to be doing so well on a diet but you might wanna get your doctor to supervise your nutrition, trust me, it's very easy to slide to being anorexic just as easy as it is to slide to being an over eater..

2007-06-26 08:20:38Wow, girly, you need to be careful with that. That is WAY too much weight WAY too fast. The HEALTHY way to lose weight is at a rate of 1-2 lbs per week. Anything more than that puts too much strain on your heart and can have negative long term effects. Here's another thing to think about: when your body thinks it's starving (which your's most definitely does), it will eventually kick itself into starvation mode. SO. . . instead of burning the calories you consume, it will start storing EVERYTHING because it won't know how long it will be until it gets refueled. In the end, you'll end up gaining more weight back with a crash diet like that. Not to mention the fact that your body must be absolutely exhausted. My advice to you is to look out for your health FIRST. Take a couple weeks off and get your strength back, then start doing this the healthy way. Good luck!

2007-06-26 08:27:28I think that you are doing a great job if you feel healthy and are eating healty, try to have good foods, and stay active, I think it's normal to loose alot on your first week or month and you will start loosing weight at a slower pace from now on, it's normal.... I think you are an admiration and keep up the good work! =)

2007-06-26 08:13:22That is beyond bad, the heart can't take that type of work. You need to slow that down some and maybe between 1-3 pounds a week is plenty. 22 pounds in a month can cause serious heart problems.
