Answer:weight loss and the food pyramid
2008-11-09 12:17:08The food pyramid is jaded and is not designed for weight loss.
It is designed as an easy way for kids to eat the proper RATIOS of foods, and not the proper AMOUNTS of foods.
Your best bet is to sign up at a place like www.thedailyplate.com and being tracking your foods. It will give you a caloric limit based upon your weight loss goals and activities.
Answer:weight loss and the food pyramid
2008-11-09 12:19:25The healthy answer is to lose the weight gradually, 2 to 4 lbs a month. Don't chase the dial on the scale though, because our body is cyclical, and sometimes retains water, or our sleep patterns can disturb our body's metabolism, etc. I think you could lose ten pounds in 5 months and feel better in the process if you use the food pyramid to keep "proportions" in check. Don't have to eat the total number of servings they call for in the pyramid, cause the pyramid doesn't specify differences in "size" for servings. A serving for a 5 year old better not be the same serving for a 35 year old. But both the 5 year old and the 35 year old need proportionate amounts of the 5 food groups, meaning more grains, and fruits and veggies, than meat or dairy, and very very little sugars and fats. Besides, if you fill up more on the lower calorie grains, fruits and veggies, you won't be so tempted to eat the higher calorie meats, dairy, and sweets and fats.

2008-11-09 13:11:15Don't follow the food pyramid unless you want to look like that food pyramid.
we can't answer your question without knowing your current condition and that calorie amount is for someone weighing 100-110 lbs. if you weigh that much, you don't need to lose fat.
so what is your current height and weight and age?
