2008-04-27 08:46:28I have big ( wide) shoulders and have been gainig weight lately. Somebody said that instead of lifting 3 days a week I should be doing about 30 min. of cardio and lifting lighter (more rep) weights 1-2 days until I lose the the weight. Would I lose any muscle that I still do have? Should I drink a protein drink for one of my snacks during the day so I do not lose muscle? Wil six meals a day with one being a protein shake prevent me from losing weight?

2008-04-27 08:59:17your Friend is right you should do more cardio(i do it 5 days a week and run alittle more than a mile a day with walking breaks, so not straight unless i want to) and less lifting and you shouldn't drink a protein shake the days you want to loose weight and if you want your shoulders to get smaller than do less lifting that works that area. and don't worry about your muscle mass because what ever you loss if any of your upper body you will gain in your lower body but you really shouldn't loss any muscle from your upper body if you are still working them 1-2 days. also eat small snacks through out the day to keep your metabolism going that is if you don't have time for Minni meals.

2008-04-27 08:52:50Need to increase your cardio time to at least 45 minutes approx 4-5 times per week. Lighter weight, more reps to prevent bulk. Mini meals 6 throughout the day to keep metabolism stoked. Whey protein shake is good...you are putting gas in the engine to keep it running consistently which also assists in increasing your metabolism. Watch the amount of protein you take in overall because depending on your body type it may make you more prone to developing large muscles.

2008-04-27 08:50:10Run and mod. lifting will help you drop weight. Just take in one gram of protein for each pound you weigh and you shouldnt lose muscle.
