I've created a plan where I eat 1,000 calories a day and run 17 total miles per day (I'm already a runner so my body can handle running great distances). I weigh 125 pounds and with the healthy, nutrient-rich foods that I eat, 1,000 calories is enough for me to not be hungry during the day. I figured out that at this rate I will lose 5 pounds per week. I know that people say that 2 pounds/week is the most you should aim for, but since I am not starving myself is what I am doing ok?

No. I think that is really really stupid.
only eating 1,000 calories a day and running 17 miles.
hope you dont enjoy your muscle! It's going to burn away.
oh yeah...you'll probably pass out after about 3 miles.
    dont be an idiot.

if you are going to be running that much you need more calories for your body.

you sound like a really smart person, but just think if you only ate 500 calories a day and ran 17 miles..that would be even more effective...*takes a puff off my cigg and rolls eyes"

NO! At minimum you should be eating 1,200 calories (with very little activity). If you are really running 17 miles per day you really need to be eating about 1700-2000 calories per day and drinking lots of water. You will only gain weight (fat) if you consume more than 3000 calories per day. It could be VERY dangerous to not eat enough, especially if you are running that much everyday. Good luck, and be safe!

When you are eating less than around 1200 calories a day you risk permanently slowing down your metabolism. Plus, you are going to start burning off muscle mass which is going to make it impossible for you to be a runner. Reconsider your reasons for doing this. It is so much better to be extremely fit than extremely thin. It's impossible to be fit on 1,000 calories a day.
