Ask:Weight loss well being and sticking with a plan
2007-02-07 11:03:13I am trying to find a diet/exercise plan for two busy people that is easy to stick with. My fiance and I both need to lose weight but we are having a hard time getting motivated after a long day at work.

2007-02-07 11:14:26It's all about how you eat. Watching calorie intake. If you are trying to really lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you eat.
For example, my wife (fiance at the time) were in the same situation as you. We stopped eating fast food. Took the extra 2 minutes to pack our lunch. And switched to Diet soft drinks.
It was hard at first, but now (2 years later) I don't even think about it. I've lost over 80lbs, and my wife is down 40 lbs.
Exercise will always help. We started our diet in February, and in the late spring we both started running everyday (more like a fast walk or job). Doing this and eating correctly made me feel incredible. I slept well at night, was alert during the day. And I just had a more positive disposition.
Most importantly, don't be afraid to take a cheat day once a week. I know that sounds counterproductive, but it really works.
Also, make sure you drink tons of water.
Breakfast: 1/2 cup of oatmeal, 2 eggs, and banana
Mid-morning: Fat free Yogurt and/or piece of fruit
Lunch: Turkey Sandwich (mustard, sometimes cheese), Some kind of veggie (cut up carrots, cucumbers, peppers, etc), and some kind of fruit
Mid afternoon: Yogurt and/or veggies or fruit
Dinner: Grilled chicken breast (I added BBQ sauce sometimes) Rice, Grilled veggies, and a salad
If I was still hungry a little while after dinner, I would eat some kind of sweet thing. Sugar free jello and pudding is aways good.

2007-02-07 15:55:45Here is a place that reviews a bunch of weight loss programs, dieting aides, supplements and so on. Even has categories like diabetes, low fat and hypnosis. Pretty cool site.

Many of the programs listed have consumer reviews, so you can read what others think of the different programs.
Hope this helps!

2007-02-07 11:24:43Are you both overweight, or just think you should diet? If the first, stop drinking soda as a first step. If you drink a lot of it, you will lose a nice piece of weight by stopping. Also, add walking... nothing gung-ho, just add a nice stroll after dinner -- or walk the dog together if you have one. Take it slow. Surprisingly, once you start losing weight, you'll be able to move around easier, have more energy, and WANT those walks. Walking is low impact, low tech, and needs no special equipment.
To keep losing weight, cut out ice cream, and cut way down on junk food. I lost 44 pounds by giving up the soda and by adding walking, building on the amount of time I spent walking, and walking more briskly as I lost more weight and had more energy.
And to STAY motivated? Shopping! Shopping for all the new SMALLER clothes you'll need! What a perk THAT one was :) Oh, and one last thing: as you lose weight, pay more attention to how your clothes fit, than to the scale. Fat will be replaced with muscle, and muscle is more dense. For instance, at one point my scale said 160,
but I was WEARING size 10 jeans. Good luck to you!

2007-02-07 11:12:44Firstly for breakfast eat high protein foods as they fill you up for longer
Mid mornin eat some fruit
For lunch have sandwich and fruit but no dessert
Mid afternoon have a cereal bar or perhaps even more fruit
Have a healthy meal with tons of veg
Hav a nice dessert
Try also joinin d gym 2geva yo9u shud b able 2 motivate each other and i promise you if you go there when your tired being in that atmosphere will liven you up.
Also measure your weight and waist often so you can see the results to help motivate you to carry on.
Maybe a little competition between you both would help.
