Ask:What weight plan and will it work
2006-09-04 13:06:10I'm going on military training for 3 solid weeks, and even though I've lost a bit of weight in the last 4 months (a bit over 40 lbs) I feel I'm ready to start putting on some muscle. To date my exercise plan has consisted of walking an average of 3 miles daily (no less than 20 miles per week) at a moderate (3.5 mph) pace.
I want to start lifting some weights, mainly to build up my biceps (the pushups have done wonders for my tris), firm up my chest, and speed up my weight loss (I want to lose about 10 more pounds)
1) will I see results in about 3 weeks?
2) should I lift every day or every other day?
3) what should I do? I know dumbell curls and the maneuver where you bring the dumbells into your chest. Should I be doing anything else?
4) how many reps should I do?
Thanks in advance!
Answer:What weight plan and will it work
2006-09-04 13:24:13For starters working out everyday is fine if it's cardio but lifting weights everyday is a no no, every other day is fine muscles grow when at rest so actually the day u aren't weight training is the day your muscles are growing, u will see noticable results usually in about 4 weeks, dumbell curls and bringing the dumbbells to your chest are fine however u should switch up every 4 weeks your body gets used to what u are doing and doesn't improve so change up, do shoulder presses use the weight bands sometimes u know just shock your muscles, as far as how many reps since u are a beginner start with 15 reps 3 sets until u absolutely can't go on any longer so 3 sets of 15 reps should do the trick and the same goes for reps once a month increase the reps as u get stronger maybe increase by one or two or do 20 reps if u can handle it but don't hurt yourself and get someone to assist u until u become familiar with weight training, usually people get personal trainers for about 2-3 months just to get them going then they go on their own so i suggest getting one. GOOD LUCK 2 U!!!!

2006-09-04 13:14:46Well you should walk 3 miles everyday and then eat something healthy like friuts and vegatables and then lift some weights. Take it easy on yourself and in 3 weeks or so you will see your results.
