    If I'm starting from scratch, never been a runner/jogger and have a good pair of running shoes and a heart rate monitor, will jogging/running produce weigh loss combined w/a good diet?
    Just a little background, want to lose 50+ lbs, generally in good shape but I know running will kill me in the beginning. Just want to run a mile without stopping, and in a decent amount of time as my secondary goal. Should I try this or stick only to weight training to shed pounds?

    The plan is good nutrition , cardio and strength training that is the key. I might suggest a walk/run approach to your running at first. Meaning run 3-4 minutes and walk a minute and repeat for the first couple of weeks.A mile goal is great. I would look further down the road .Here a great training schedule

    In March of 2006 I weighed 227 pounds. I am 5 11". Today I weigh 170 pounds. I could not run 300 yards without stopping. I now run daily between 2 and 5 miles. Just get yourself into the habbit. You don't have literally diet, but eat at the right times, and stay away from junk food. It's simple running will cause you to lose pounds faster than anything else.

    running is an excellent form of exercise that uses muscles not used in wieght routines and helps work your lunges and heart f you want to lose wieght then running longer and sweating more is the best way and another thing is when to drink water you should drink a little before to begin properly highdrated and during to maintain but most importanly after to stop cramping and tightening remember to stretch before and after and you might want to run more then a mile and make sure you are sweating otherwise you are going to lose wieght and stick to water because it will clean out your system and wont add fat or suger to your body like gatorade or pop or other drinks

    most definetly try it!!! and stick with your weight training as well!!
    the key is to expend more energy than u consume...and soon you will be eating more so you could excercise, not lose pounds!
    I think sticking to weight training AND running in the same time will result in optimal results for u and ur body.

    running sheds pounds big time, but your going to have to do it properly. you havent done anything if you didnt sweat. make sure you sweat when you run. and when fatigue kicks in, PUSH IT! i cant enphesise that more, do not stop when you get tired, push yourself out of your comfort zone. not only will you shed pounds, your going to become stronger and quicker.

    The ONLY way to control one's weight is to control what we put in our mouth(s). That means to cut down too much sweets, junk food, sodas. Whatever you do, start out slow and work your way up.

    No carbs, only protein for the first 2 weeks and I guarantee you that you'll lose 15 lbs. Running/jogging will definitely help, drink LOTS of water! No diet drinks, definitely NO sugar drinks. Trust me on this one.

    ABSOLUTELY yeah
    i realy know what im saying...im a runner, i run 4 times a week and im very skinny even tho i eat what i want
    i realy eat a lot...in fact many ppl keep asking me how can they become skinnier i never recommended a change in their diets ( except if they eat plenty of sweets ) cauz in fact if they stop eating mayb trhey can lose like 400 calories a day ( by not eating them) but i believe this is realy stupid cauz calories give us energy if u dn take 2000 a day u can get lazier, on the long term u can get depressed so y kill urself for 400 calories while u can lose 600 by running YES
    in fact u lose 600 calories if u run for one hour ( a lil faster than jogging )..so go for it and dnt torture urself if u can take a healthy diet good...just dnt get too obcessed about what u eat
    and oh if u ever wonder why ppl who dnt change their diets keep being fat :D well its because they dnt run...they walk :D
    and its totaly diff
    MANY people keep telling me that everybody change their diets and not run ......well everybody is wrong...how many ppl u c get skinnier ? even tho they torture themselves...
    cauz they bother about the dam 400 or 500 calories and dnt run

    im skinny...i helped many ppl get skinnier
